What is Polyurethane (PU) coating

A polyurethane coating is applied to the polyester fabric to make it waterproof and wind-resistant while still being relatively lightweight. It adds an extra protective barrier so rain doesn’t soak through the fabric, which is key for gaiters since they’re constantly exposed to wet grass, mud, and splashes.

PU also helps the fabric resist abrasion, giving you better durability in tough terrain.

1200R Ripstop polyester

The “1200R” refers to the denier rating of the polyester yarn used in the fabric. Denier (often shortened to D or R) measures the thickness of the individual fibres. A higher number means a heavier, tougher fabric.

• 1200R is extremely strong, much more robust than lighter weights like 300D or 600D, which are common in outdoor gear.
